Finding Our Identity

Isaac Griffin speaking to students at the October Galena FCA Huddle

We had 41 students and 10 adults at our Galena FCA Huddle in October, where Isaac Griffin, a Galena graduate and now Youth Director at Living Stones South Reno, shared about our true identity.

Isaac shared how football had been a significant part of his life and how his experience with an autoimmune disease had also shaped his story and contributed to what he thought his true identity was. But neither of those things ultimately defined who he was.

That led to an important question: Where do we find our identity? It's easy to define ourselves by what we accomplish, the goals we reach, or even the mistakes we've made. But none of those things tell the whole story of who we are. Isaac guided the group to Ephesians 1:4–5 and the truth that our identity is found in Christ. We are loved, chosen, and adopted into God's family, not because of what we've accomplished, but because of what Jesus has done for us through the cross.

We also looked at 1 Peter 2 and what it means to live as God's people. Who we are in Christ shapes how we live. Our identity isn't something we have to earn through our performance. It's rooted in what Christ has already done for us.
